General Discussion / Camaro Nationals Clarification 6/22 -6/23
« on: June 16, 2012, 02:25:34 AM »
Fellow Camaro Enthusiast, It seems that due to unclear advertising on some websites, some Camaro owners may have inadvertently registered for the show at Carlisle fairgrounds next weekend; thinking they were registering for the Camaro Nationals. The American Camaro Association Inc. and the Maryland Camaro Club Inc. are sorry for any confusion these websites may have created. To that end, any Camaro that arrives unregistered at the Camaro Nationals in Frederick Maryland, but with their credentials or window sticker from this year"s Carlisle fairgrounds event, will be allowed entry into the appropriate Non-Judged or Participant-Vote Judged class at the Camaro Nationals at no additional charge. As in years past, our Participant Vote classes offer three awards in each of three classes per generation for a total of 15 classes, plus, this year, a grand prize of $100 cash and a $50 Lowe"s Gift Card for the Camaro with the highest number of individual votes. The Camaro Nationals in Frederick Maryland is expecting a solid 500 Camaros. Over 300 Camaros already registered in all 5 generations...and add to that, an average of 150 -200 Camaros that normally arrive "day of show"; 25 vendors including: Tom Henry Chevrolet & Racing, Win Kelley GM Superstore, T & T Performance, SLP, American High Performance, TMI Products, Right Stuff Detailing, Automotive Accents LTD., and Acme Apparel Group, HTI / Camaro Performers, and more. Thirty-one Bowtie and Legend Concours Camaros will be displayed and judged in an Air-Condfitioned building; an expanded Kids Area, with pony rides, petting zoo and moon bounce, will round out this great event. This is the big one! Bring your Camaro - Bring your Family - hang with your friends! For more information; go to www.camaronationals.org

Originality / 68 Vinyl Top
« on: February 17, 2009, 07:05:32 PM »
We are about to install a vinyl top on a 68. I have seen top manufacturers make the top with the A-pillar post vinyl overlapped by the top section. I have seen others that overlap the top section with the A-pillar post section. Some people say the top section should overlap the A-pillar post piece allowing water to run off of the top and over that seam. Others tell me that the water is driven up the A-pillar post during driving and hence the A-pillar piece should be on top of the roof piece. Does anyone have an original 68 vinyl top to verify the pillar post seam? See attached photo ... Also any recommendations for a source for the correct top would be appreciated.

Thanks,
  Ken

Originality / Standard Steel Wheel Color
« on: October 17, 2008, 02:47:51 AM »
We have a 68 SS that has original factory full hubcaps. I know that standard steel wheels with "dog dish" hubcaps had the wheels painted body color. Were the steel wheels also painted body color with the full hubcaps?

Originality / 68 Coupe Auxillary (rear) Speaker U80
« on: March 27, 2008, 10:26:44 PM »
Where can I find the details to correctly connect the rear speaker? I'd like to know how the actual wires were connected. I understand that the single blue wire routed from the radio fader control knob has to attach to one of the rear speaker connectors. I also understand that the other speaker connector must be grounded to complete the connection. My first question is where was the speaker ground attached to the body. The second question is how was the blue wire attached to the speaker connector. I've seen the rear speaker connector that Rick's sell (their part number AR-26). This easily slides onto the rear speaker connector. It comes with two short wire pig tails. I can make all of this work but would really like to duplicte the original factory configuration.

Any photos would  be helpful. The 68 Assembly manual only mentions that the rear speaker was installed by Fisher Body and does not detail the installation.

What applications used the larger 13/16" sway bar? Would I expect to find one on all 396 cars?

Originality / 69 SS grille color
« on: March 13, 2008, 12:09:20 AM »
I know that the 69 SS grille was black with the outside edge area painted body color. What about a black car? Would the entire grille area be black, or was the center grille section argent silver, like a black RS?

Restoration / Manual to Power Top Conversion
« on: June 15, 2007, 03:39:24 AM »
I'm considering converting a 68 manual top  to a power top. Has anyone used the power top frame available from Ricks? Also could the manual top frame be modified into a power top frame? Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

Originality / 69 Rosewood Dash

Could the rosewood dash covering be ordered with a standard interior? I can't seem to find it listed in "The Camaro White Book".

Restoration / 68 Trunk Lid Emblem Location
« on: April 15, 2006, 02:18:21 AM »
I need to drill the four holes for the trunk lid emblem on a 68. The car has a rear spoiler. Does anyone have the exact location for these holes, or possibly a template?

Originality / 68 Console Gauges
« on: January 20, 2006, 03:52:58 AM »
I am adding console gauges to a car originally equipped with a console without gauges. The car has a blue interior, and the console is blue. My question is, what color is the bezel that surrounds the gauges? I don't recall seeing any other color except black. Are all bezels black or are they painted to match the color of the console?
