General Discussion / '68 mo block and other gear
« on: October 19, 2014, 04:34:33 AM »
Just a "what would you guys do" question.

I sold my '68 Z/28 a while back, the current engine in the car was 350 Vette engine(correct Vette suffix, not a Craigslist Vette engine :) ).

I asked the guy who bought it if he was interested in the original engine and he said NO :o  I did ask for a nominal amount but I don't recall how much, and I did ask him if he would like to swap for the 350.

Now i have a block(std bore), crank, rods, pistons, heads and a balancer.

Would you guys hang on to them in anticipation that an owner/next owner may come looking for them one day.........or just move them on?

This is not a for sale ad so please don't ask  :)

cheers
Jim

Why not buy an original and get it rebuilt? I do have one but I can't bring myself to sell it :(

Is it a factory piece or aftermarket? I'm not sure if it offset originally or it has spun, as is does not look to be 10 degrees to the keyway.

No, It's slightly anticlockwise of the keyway(looking from the front).

This balancer came with my 68 Z28 and I'm wondering if it's original to the car or an aftermarket guy. It's 8" by 1 and 11/16ths". There are no part numbers on it or many markings of any description :(

cheers

General Discussion / Re: SBC Hump Heads

Pete, I'm not 100% sure about the external differences between the the 2.02 and the 1.94 heads, but why not get a set of the 1.94'(cheaper)and get them cut and unshrouded and you would end up with a virtually new set of heads(valve seat wise)?

Below are some pics of 291's, one set are 302 heads the others are standard fuelies. The 302 heads are dated 28 0f March '68 and the others are 18 October '67(neither are for sale sorry)

These heads are currently out,  so if you need more pics of them let me know.

cheers
Jim

PS, Chick if you read this,  I still can't get near my car to get pics of the speedo cable :( I have to move a heap of cars and it's a pain in the butt :( I'll take them when I do get near it though.

Maintenance / Re: Octane boost
« on: July 05, 2012, 10:32:19 AM »
Here is a link using Wayback machine, not sure if you guys can still buy this stuff or not over there(company gone belly up?web page no longer works).
I have a couple of boxes left and still use this stuff sparingly. If you are looking to get your octane level up this this is the stuff :)
This stuff has real lead in it and if you put enough in you'll be blowing a gray pipe in no time.

There is a guy out here in OZ who can make this and is currently fighting his way through legislation so he can produce and sell it out here.

Edit:Just done a search and it would appear that you can still get this gear over there :D Just search out Octane Supreme 130

Guards on the front of this turd are British Green underneath, car was originally British Green.
Speculative at best, but maybe they are original to the car.....if so,the one on the car in your picture are in the wrong place.
