Title: Muffler and tail pipeinfo needed
Post by: David K on February 09, 2024, 02:25:50 AM
If your car has an original muffler still on it, let me know. I’m looking for clarification, but the outlet should be in the center. If yours is in the top corner, I’m curious how it sits level. Pictures and details as always are very much appreciated. Tail pipe and anything else you care to share.

Should be the same as any single exhaust engine - 307, 327, L65, LM1.

Kurt, you would think so, but the AIM and parts book shows different numbers for 6 and single 8 mufflers and tail pipes.
The muffler that came off during my replacement was a Midas replacement from 2001 or so, the outlet was in the middle, and the muffler was straight. With the new one in the top corner, it’s not even remotely possible. Waiting for the supplier to get back to me. I sent them a lot of pictures, and they wanted the width of the muffler which is 21 1/2”. It’s definitely a throaty sound, and that’s ok, but the uneven muffler is my boggle.
