Title: Reverse Lockout

Hello All !!

I am interested in installing the reverse
lockout linkage on my 69 BB RS/SS 4 spd ,
It seems there are a few variations of this and
I am not sure which version belongs in my car ,
I do know that there are 3 holes in the frame
at the mounting location
But only two of the holes are threaded .

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated !

Finding the parts seems to be the biggest problem today, as so many of them got 'tossed' when headers were installed...

I have found a 3 tab mounting and
a 2 tab mounting , just not sure which is correct ?

Jim, there used to be a great tech article in PDF format here: http://www.worldwidecamaroclub.com/forum/tech-articles/1st-gen/1560-1969-reverse-lockouts
which provided reference pictures and a list of part numbers for the subframe pivot/swivel mechanism and upper/lower linkage rods, for each engine/trans application. It doesn't seem to be available anymore, but I'm pretty sure I saved a copy somewhere. It's probably on an old computer, but I'll try and find it.

Lock-out parts are different between automatics & 4-speed.

Only Muncies used the two-tab swivel mount & upper lock rod 3945599. Small-blocks use lower lock rod 3955773; big-blocks 3955776. Saginaw 4-speed parts are not the same.

The '69 Camaro Assembly Instruction Manual is a great reference.

That, or a fastener was left off at assembly ( which is very possible)? The subframe could have been replaced? So, an assumption can be made , but not a factual assertion. You would want to look for the hole in the firewall as a better clue of your car being muncie equipped.

That and the Muncie-only speedo cable routing.

Now if we only had a header brand and part number that does not interfere with the linkage you would be all set.
