I have a 69 Z28 with stock rear end. I heard a sound like it was a loose wheel. When I jacked the wheels off the ground I discovered that the entire axel is moving slightly left and right. Any help on what could be the problem?

Axle bearing about to come apart would be my first guess.

was does it involve to remove the passenger side axel i a 69 Camaro Z-28 12 bolt rear end

Do you have any shop manuals? I always start by removing all the brake parts. Remove the cover plate on rear housing. Remove bolt from cross shaft push cross shaft out. Push in on axle and you will see the "C" clip on the end of the axle. Slip the clip off the end of the axle. Pull the axle out of the housing. If it's a bad bearing it might be kinda hard to pull out but it will come.

Becareful not to turn the rear end much with the cross pin out, the spider gears can shift, you also need to replace the pin after pulling the axle until such time as you are ready to reinstall it, then remove it again slide the axle in put the C clip in pull the axle outward to seat the C clip and reinstall the pin and torque the retaining bolt. Look up the torque, cause I don't think it is very much, cant remember exactly, maybe someone will chime in with the specs.

If the axle is hard to remove, I hook a chain to the lugs and the other end around a sledge hammer. They make an axle puller but the chain works.
