Title: ZL2 solenoid switch and retainer clip
Post by: z/27 camaro on November 28, 2008, 01:16:47 AM
can anyone tell me if this is the right retainer clip for the solenoid switch?? the clip is way too small for the diameter of the switch. is the clip supposed to expand to twice its normal size to be pushed on to the switch?

also this is a repo switch....are they reliable? its a tough spot to get into!

also..when you put the clip and the switch together on the throttle arm, does the switch self align when you hit the gas pedal or do you have to manually try and set it up?? nasty spot to get at!

I have NOS clips if the aftermarket ones are giving you grief.

The repro switches are poorly made - the GM switch is a FAR better part. The instructions for setting the switch are in the Assembly Manual - section ZL2, sheet A2. Push the switch all the way into the ear on the lever, then manually push the lever back against the firewall with the throttle rod disconnected to set the switch position (with your hand on the lever, not using the accelerator pedal), then re-connect the throttle rod.
