I especially liked the welded on exhaust tips. That must be why is is only a concourse restoration  and not a concours. Still way nicer than my car ever thought about being. But I'm like many of you and actually drive mine occasionally. Speaking of drivng, I got caught in some wet snow a few weeks ago at a local car show/toy run with several local clubs. I felt for the guys with the rat rods. No wiindshields, no wipers, no heaters but they were loving it. The Camaro will have to wait till spring to get cleaned up.

Not that it makes a lot of difference, but I got downgraded from Veteran to newbie. I've read the post and see that your status is now based only on number of post.  Like I said, it's not a big deal but I've been a member and visiting and occasionally posting since half of the members here were still in high school.   I just hate being classified as a newbie.   Please don't let those V6-Berlinetta type guys contaminate this site like they have the other one.

First Gen Forever.    Thanks Jim

I think that you'd enjoy the radio more if you got one of the reproduction speakers that replace the original dash speaker.  The new repo have two 4" speakers in place of the one original.  Thes are much better quality with bigger magnet structures than the original.  You'll have the front to rear fade without cutting up your kick panels to put speakers in them.

I also used a 30" stainless antenna from one of the local auto stores for an antenna.   The 30"antenna are specifically designed for FM reception.   I have a 25 year old Pioneer super tuner radio with about 60 watts of power. It was the top of the linein its day. Even with the old school analog radio, it still kicks butt.     Good luck,   Jim

General Discussion / Re: How Much Do You Drive?

I've only put about 4,000 miles on my 69 in the last  10 years sad to say. it had cracked tires so I was afraid to do much driving. Just got me a new set of BFG T/A radials about a week ago so plan on putting lots of miles on it this coming summer with the club.    Jim

Srange how this takes you back.  Like most everyone else, I thought that I had paid too much.

I found my 69 4 speed car in a repo yard behind a credit union in 1988. Huggar orange w/ a block vinal top Bid $1200 and took it to my work parking lot becaue my wife said it looked to nasty to leave in front of the house.  It ran and drove but wasnt in the best of shape. Someone had most of the body work done so much of the chrome was missing.Interior reminded me of a chicken coop.    It looks a lot better now and I still only have about 4 grand in it I've done all the work except spray the paint on it.   Jm

Just wanted to let you guys know that this event is held in Deadwood, S.D. Aug 20-23 for anybody that might be in the region. Deadwood is a gambling town so you might drop a couple of bucks at the tables.   This is right in the middle of the beautiful Black Hills. Some of the most spectacular crusing scenery anywhere.   Just within a few miles, you,ve got Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, Custer Sate Park, Sylvan Lake and Lake Pactola, Spearfish Canyon, Crazy Horse Monument,, Devils Tower, the bad lands  and all of the sights around Rapid City. Great place for the kids too. Plenty of activities for them. I lived in Rapid city several years ago and loved the area.

This site has a little more info.  http://www.deadwood.org/DeadwoodEvents/KoolDeadwoodNites/

Nice looking car, Dave.   I've still got the original 250hp/350 in mine and it will probably stay that way.
After owning it for 21 years, no sense in changing now.    I did put a GM cowl hood on it and a spoiler early on but I now regret the spoiler.     Jim

Mild Modifications / Re: '69 "Comfort Grip" steering wheel

I've got the same problem with my 69 but I'm 6'2.  Just too long in the legs.

I've seen  extended seat tracks on ebay that lets your seat go back another couple of inches but I've not bought them.  If I drove the car more requently, I might invest in them.

You might go to ebay and search for seat extenders.              Jim

Larry Christensen of Camaros Plus can be reached at 303.420.6229.  At least that what a 15 year old business card says. I bought a few parts off of him but its been years ago. He's in Wheatridge, Co.

I just googled "nissan forum"  just for fun and came up with www.nissanforum.com    I think that all you need to do is google your car.  There are car forums all over the internet.  You name a make/model, and there's a site specializing on it.      Jim

General Discussion / Re: XT wheel backspacing
« on: January 27, 2007, 05:16:53 PM »
Yes, thanks. I was just curious. Some people measure from the outside edge to the mounting flange and others from the bead edge.  It can make as much as 1/2" or so diff.  I hadn't heard the the yj's and the xt's were the same measurements but it makes sence to me.

I haven't heard of the company either but I am going from the ralley wheels back to 14x7 steelies and am leaning toward the redline tires.  I think that they would look fantastic.      Jim

I had a 2 68 SS396 cars back in the 70's and 80's and both had this wheel.  Never realized that it wasn't the standard. wheel.
