Original Cars and Details / Re: 68 L78 Rallye Green
« on: October 26, 2023, 05:41:36 PM »
Hard to believe its been 17 years since my father passed and 4 years for my mother (on the 23rd). He was a true Camaro enthusiast and my mother loved him unconditionally.

First photo is I believe Tri-Cities (TN) Camaro Show

Second was '95 (maybe '96?) Camaro Nationals in Atlanta, GA, Pretty sure Rick George (Rick's Camaro) was the main sponsor but my memory is not the best.

Third is at the local Wilson Bank and Trust show in Oct. '95.

Got ole green out last sunday and putted around the neighborhood and put'er back under cover.  Pretty original but there are a few things I still need to do which include replacing the '80's repo valve covers with original correct ones (which I have) and also smog was removed and headers added.  I think this is the 3rd or 4th set and I have another set I will eventually attempt to install since I do not know the brand or application but they look like they might fit..  fingers crossed.  Also power steering & disc brake option was added by the original owner (my father).  Originally mandatory power drums.

Tag is believed to be real and never off according to a previous owner.

It may not look like it but I am more satisfied with the quarter wells.  Note the quarters well lips had been rolled at some point.

Didn't realize you had documentation.  Very interesting.  And thank you for clearing up my confusion.

Thanks Bryon, I understand what Kurt is asking.  Just wanted confirmation on if the overall photo was an accurate representation.

asm69,
I wasn't trying to call you out just wanted to confirm if the lid had an emblem.  The photo doesn't appear to show one which would lead me to believe the spoiler was added post factory.  Info requested was "this is only relevant to Z28's with factory spoilers or Z11 pace cars. Post the build date if you know it.".  I just didn't want there to be any confusion.  Heck maybe I'm confused.

We have evidence that some of the LOS-built Z11's and Z28's with spoilers had decklid stripes that extended onto the rear lip of the decklid. On NOR-built cars and early LOS cars, the stripe ended at the spoiler, as shown in the attached picture.
We are looking to define how common of a practice this was at LOS so I'm looking for any original LOS-built cars (or original pictures) out there that show either paint method. Again, this is only relevant to Z28's with factory spoilers or Z11 pace cars. Post the build date if you know it.

Thanks!
Kurt

Rear antenna?  Was this more for example photo and not an actual representation.?.

I've attached pictures of my rear deck with spoiler. Build sheet includes the D80 package. As you can see stripes continue down
the deck lid. As far as I know its factory paint. The layout dimensions match the assembly manual.
Hope this helps in the discussion.

LOS built 1969 camaro z28 (10D).

Does it not have a decklid emblem?

Thanks Jim.  Yes I will coat the areas of surface rust.  I initially thought I would setup the wash station of evapo and get all the areas completely clean but after cleaning I didn't feel like it so I plan to coat the areas with Rust Veto most likely.  In the areas where there is undercoating I will do RPM.  I may do all RPM just depends on how I feel once I start the process.  I will update on what I end up using when the time comes.  I still have to touch up some areas after stepping away from it for a few days and seeing these photos I see areas I am not happy with so I will knock those out next (also something) and then go to the protection aspect.  I might snag some Beoshield and give that a try also.  Something I have yet to use.
