Title: Console mounting
Post by: 68Zproject on August 27, 2009, 06:26:36 PM
Stupid question, but I have to ask to make absolutely sure before I convert my car back to idiots lights.   Were there any examples of the console being mounted without the front bracket being used, from the factory?  Part # 3919163 D55 A2 in the AIM.  Reason being, I have deduced, because of certain original items that are there, that my car didn't come with the console and it was added on at some point.  I have the black grain dash plate for the heater, radio etc.  The holes for the front bracket described above were not drilled.  The other two holes to hold the console down were there, but the riv-nuts weren't.  So I am going to revert back to the lights in the dash and want to be absolutely certain, before I sell off all my parts.

No riv-nuts and no bracket holes means no console originaly from the factory.
