Although the pic does make them appear that way, the rallies aren't really that blue. They were actually painted the correct argent silver...

Figured the car would get picked at here, but I thought it was worth taking a chance on posting it anyway to provide an example of what the color combo looks - or would look - like, whether the tag's been modified at some point in the past or not. I've had it since '87 and that's the way I bought it. As I said before, it's a car that's definitely been apart and put back together from multiple source vehicles before I got it. I'll just run it and enjoy it for what it is. Thanks for the positive responses on the car, guys. We'll see you all out there...

While I know it's not correct, I kinda liked the out-of-the-box grill color and left it that way. This car came with a functional cowl hood and spoilers, but it's definitely a Frankenstein model. I just wanted a good-looking, functionally-correct weekend driver that I didn't have to have originality/value worries about. Lots of stock-ish but not technically-correct part numbers or date codes. It's an essentially-correct 302 with an M21 Muncie and 4.10 ratio 12-bolt rear end. Most of the specs match the originals...

Way late, but I recently stumbled across this thread...

I have one that appears to be legit. When I bought it many years ago, the top was painted the same body color like a standard coupe, but when I stripped the paint during the restoration I found the original rivets for the trim strip were present and had been ground flush. I reinstalled the rivets and trim strip and put it back to match the trim tag. I’ve never seen another Z-28 and very few standard coupes with the two-tone paint code...
