Boys,
Vote for only one:

1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am

Yes it is. However, we are in the 'Garage Talk' section. Theres also a topic on 'Most expensive Muscle Car', and the subject car is a 1971 Hemi 'Cuda.
IF the moderators feel this topic is unacceptable, by all means delete it. Otherwise, lets have some fun...

I kinda like cougers and would take one over a mustang but in this case I would take the trans am. Unique car that really looks nice. I never really found the beak looking nose good looking on most os the 60's Pontiac's but when they redid the firebird for 69 I feel they got it right. Then I also feel GM'S build quality in the 60's and early 70's was better than ford or Chrysler stuff. So for  me t/a it is.

Love the Trans Am and have driven a RA IV one. Would definitely take the Trans Am. I remember the variable ratio steering being exceptionally quick, the car being very neutral & responsive, as compared to my 69 SS Camaro. Have not driven an Eliminator but have seen a few up close, one was here in town for a very long time but haven't seen it in years. Nice looking cars but the Trans Am had torque and handled very well.

I would love to have the prototype 303 TP Trans-Am engine in mine. Rumor has it, 'some' of the engineering 303 TP and 400 TP powered cars survived the crusher.

The '69 Trans-Am with no hesitation.  I have just never been a fan of Ford, including Mercury.  Thank you crossboss for asking these what would you take questions.  I really enjoy them as they add a little shall I say lightness to the CRG website.

My Co-worker had picked up (In Late 70's early 80's) a basket case 69 RAIV 4 sp and stored it for Decades!

Made a nice College fund for his Kid! - Gone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I would have Kicked the "68Z to the Curb" to get a shot at this but It WAS WAYyyy outa my Pricepoint.

It is getting the full treatment & I hope to see it someday.

I drove a 69 TA that was on a used car lot during the gas crisis that had about 60k miles on it. I remember it riding like it had no springs. I think the price was $900.

Boys, men, and women,
From a marketing standpoint, Mercury and Pontiac were a cut above their Ford and Chevy rivals. So, as a result (as I understand it), the Mercury Cougar was a mini Lincoln with all sorts of options not found on the Mustang. Pontiac also went for more of an 'upscale' Camaro. The Cougar was considered a bit 'stoggy' or 'luxury/performance'. Pontiac had the image of 'style/performance'. That said, both models did offer their performance models, aka Eliminator and Trans-Am. However, as many on here do prefer the T/A (me too) over the Eliminator. Not that the Cougar is a bad car, its not. Its all a matter of style and personal taste.

'Boys'??   Don't we have some female members here....?     Actually that form of address 'denigrates' the male members here as well... since most of the ones I've met are MEN'...

Actually, psychology theory suggests that condescending addresses (such as "boys") self impose the greeter
to the dominant alpha role and suggests others in the group are inferior to the greeter. Similarly,
failure to acknowledge the attendance of both sexes while addressing a mixed group suggests superiority
over that dismissed group.

Aren't we taking this a bit too seriously? No condescending, dominance, alpha superiority, dismissed, inferior, acknowledge, etc. It wasn't even on my mind when it was posted. All it was intended to be a nice opening line. The term 'boys' Is used often on here and on other sites. IF I offended anyone, I'm sorry. Life is short, and with all the crap going on in the world, we come here to have fun.

I like the TA personally. John, I'm one who wasn't offended. I was born a Baby, turned into a Boy and Grew into a Man.

Folks(Trying to be politically correct)Considering how close a Firebird is Camaro, pretty easy choice! Plus those Pontiac TA motors make some great low end tork!
