If the centre bore is correct 2.7677 inches or 70.3 mm and wheel studs 7/16 then it has to be the rims

Hi I have called several vendors, and they told me that there are two different types of steels, one for drum brakes and one for disc. I wasn't aware of that. So now the search begins!

I don't know of a car requiring 14x7 wheels to NOT have disc brakes....Joe

I'm looking at repro steel wheels also to replace stock XT wheels.  69 SS with stock disk brakes on front.  Did you measure the center hole diameter and the wheel offset?  Are they hitting the calipers?  What vendor are the wheels?

Thanks

What's wrong with the "XT" wheels? I like them....Joe

If these are the 14 x 7 inch steel wheels, I would call Classic Industries as they do not indicate that they will not fit on a 1969 Camaro with disc brakes:

From your photos, it appears that you have the factory single piston calibers.

I have an update, bought a pair of XT rims (originals), hand fitted the rims they went on ok, then I decided to tighten a few nuts. Did that, then tried to turn the rim/spin and no movement at all. the rim sat tight against the caliper. I give up!

Will just install spacers................

Are there any codes stamped on the rim? Manufacturing name? Not all wheels fit disc, steel AND Rally….been there done that. Sounds like the offset is wrong enough to give you the issue. Let up know.
