Mild Modifications / Re: Swapping a 700R 4 into a 67
« on: August 17, 2014, 04:44:45 AM »
Not sure if the tunnel is any different than a 72, but if it is, you will not need to modify the tunnel or change the cross member.  I just completed this swap and love it.  Running a ZZ4 with TPI injection.  Around 375hp and a 3:73 rear delivering about 16mpg.

Good luck.

General Discussion / Re: How long have you owned your Camaro?
« on: March 05, 2014, 04:13:38 AM »
I purchased my Z10 in 1999 from the original family.  The car was in the showroom of my local Chevy dealer in Pampa, TX in May of 1969.  It was purchased as a graduation present for a high school Sr, who took the car off to college.  He would come home occasionally and by 1972 I owned a 68 Z28 and we got to know each other because of the cars.  Me the high school Sr. and he the college Sr.   He was killed around 1973 when he dug a cave in a sandbank at a local lake and it collapsed killing him.

The car stayed in the family and I eventually bought the car from his sister with the condition I wouldn't flip it and I would finish it.  It's been 15 years and it's now part of my family.  Who knows, one day maybe my 1 year old grandson may have the keys in his pocket?

So, let a kid sit in your car at the next show...
That just maybe the answer.  I remember sitting in my uncles brand new 67 Firebird and him letting me drive it around the block when I was 13.  I've been hooked on F bodies ever since.  I'm going to make sure i give some young ones some rides this summer.

Thanks Gary.  Those are polaroids and the color wasn't right when I took them, but the car was defineatley Lemans Blue.  I like it so much I bought a C6 Z06 in LMB also.  But the newer LMB is certainly darker than the 68 color.  I guess I just like saying Leman Blue. ;)

Nice Yenko and 50th Anniversary TA!

This is my 68 Z taken when I was a Sr. in highschool  Dec 1972.  Lemans Blue, White strip, Blue Standard interior, console.  I added the rear spoiler and hood locks.  I truly loved this car.  Purchased the car for $1100 in 71 with 53k miles on the clock.  The car was badged as a 302 and the title read "302" sport coupe.  I soon ordered the Z/28 badges.  The 302 emblems are still with me..........wish the car was.  ;)

I wouldn't replace it, because somewhere in time, it will be represented for something it is not.  As others have said, "It is what it is" and honest car with no cowl tag.

General Discussion / Re: Not a big Fan of Decals.....but
« on: November 01, 2013, 10:10:08 PM »
My 69 has a 69 era "West Texas State University" decal located in the middle of the rear glass.  I was there from 72-76.  The school joined the Texas A&M system in the late 80's and changed the name to West Texas A&M.

The decal is staying......it's vintage, just like my car, and just like me.  ;)
I'm guessing,,,,thus your member Name.

Yep, you guessed it............Z/10

Wow, that's a pretty heady price for a questionable car in need of full assembly and paint!   Makes me feel better about mine if he gets it.  ;)

I've been sucked in by Fast and Loud, ie Gas Monkey Garage.  No drama, just looks like a bunch of guys goofing off most of the time.

General Discussion / Re: WHAT IS A CLONE CAR?
« on: May 10, 2013, 09:09:33 PM »
In the automotive world, the definition of a clone is to convert it into something it wasn't from the factory. With regards to the first generation Camaro, it's done mostly to change a non-Z28 into a Z28, a non-Yenko into a Yenko, a non-SS into an SS, a non-ZL1 into a ZL1, a non-Z11 inito a Z11, etc... And cloning mostly refers to the engine itself (ie, Z28) but not always (ie, Z11).

And you'll NEVER see the reverse, such as converting a real Z28 into a base model, or a real ZL1 converted into a 6 cylinder coupe!!

Precisely!

I've had great luck with Grundy's.  Recently I compared the same coverage between Grundy and Haggerty,  Grundy was much cheaper.
