Title: LUK Clutch
Post by: sixt9x33rs on April 26, 2011, 11:41:38 AM
Put the new clutch in and now the clutch engages at the right spot on the floor. The old NAPA clutch would not engage properly after several adjustments. The pressure plate design was slightly different.
I had a bronze or brass pilot bushing that was in good shape with no galling on the input shaft.
I put this same clutch, pressure plate and TOB in my 67 Vette and have been happy with it.

I went with a LUK clutch & PP several years ago after 2 other napa units. The LUK has too much pedal pressure for my liking but it sure holds. As it turned out, my problem all along was a worn 40 year old TO bearing carriier. The TO was not hitting the fingers on the PP squarely causing unbearable chatter.  Went with a composite TO so no grease inside the bell housing.
