Title: Saginaw back up switch bracket
Post by: 67conv6cyl on April 28, 2019, 03:17:22 PM
I can’t seem to find part #3897317 anywhere I have been searching for awhile, it’s a bracket that holds the back up switch on 67 & 68 with Saginaw 3 or 4 speed manual transmissions. (Not the same as Muncie bracket).
Does anybody know if there is a part number that superseded this one?

Nope. It was never superceded and was discontinued in July of 1974.

Although posted in 2014, you might want to check with the guy selling his on THIS THREAD (https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1236811#post1236811) anyway.

did you try searching on the 3 or 4sp transmissions for sale ?

It is a long shot but I have seen brackets still mounted on Transmissions so maybe you can find one that way.

then you would have to ask the trans seller to remove it and sell it to you

I have tried that as well!
I have always been able to find a original part.....but not this time I have been searching for months. I have original switch just not this bracket.
I am trying to do this car that 100% original GM only parts.... I guess it’s just getting harder!

That is for a Saginaw 327 car or a 6 cylinder car   ...this one looks like the backup switch itself is from a 4 speed Saginaw because of plug end.
Would you happen to have the back up switch rod that you could post a picture of?
