Title: Hard brake pedal
Post by: Kelley W King on November 28, 2022, 03:34:59 AM
I have two 69 Camaros. One z28 and one SS L78 both power disc brake cars. Both have have the boosters replaced and brakes rebuilt by po. The Z has an almost touchy brake feel while the SS has a hard pedal almost like it would with the engine not running. The vacuum is 14 or so at idle, the booster holds vac but it takes serious pedal pressure to stop. I am thinking booster but would like to hear you guys input. I also have replaced the vac valve on the booster as this caused a similar problem on my GTO.

Can you upload pictures of each? It’s quite possible there is a incorrect or component missing—(I’ve seen this before) but pictures alway help.

Had not thought about comparing the two. I will try to get a few pics if I get out to the shop this evening.

I'm with you Kelly. In my experience, hard pedal is usually something with the booster/vacuum.

I think I will swap out the booster. It was not as bad when I got the car so it must be just going bad.
