funny, that cowl seal looks identical to the way mine sits. I know Gary has stated it is incorrect, but I still see survivor cars with it this way. ???

James,

Is that a fuel line support bracket I see lurking in the engine photo's.  This 05C is the earliest I've heard of with this bracket!  May I ask for the first four of six digits of the VIN?

Thanks,
Bryan

Great detail shots James, thank you for sharing them. Can I add to the questions so far, and ask if the 270 coil bracket has a notch on the top edge, or not?

I didn't even see the wire until I was looking at the pictures.
Really original car one of my customer's bought.

The coil bracket should not have the notch.

SO I am guessing the spoilers and rear tail paint were added at one point?

Also that cable below the throttle rod appears to go over the throttle rod, wouldn't this some what create extra tension on the throttle arm, and or friction when working the gas?

Also what is the significance of the pics showing where the fenders mount to the radiator support? Just showing original paint and bolts? Just trying to learn what you are conveying there. thanks

Whats the deal with the Alt. bracket? To take up the slack from the A.I.R delete?

Shows the "run numbers" (dates) stamped in the fender flanges.

Hey good eye seeing that bracket. There was no A.I.R. delete option for the 69 Z, but I am not sure when they removed the smog from this car, why they wouldn't they have just run a shorter belt? Maybe the same thinking with that extra cable on the carb?

Also looks like a replacement mirror, hood insulation has been tossed, and no stickers present on the outside of the air cleaner.

JohnZ I see what appears to be an "11" maybe on the drivers side fender, I don't see where the stamp is on the passenger. I see he posted 2 pics of that side, I guess I am missing it.

What's the story on the paint on this car?

Thanks for posting the pics.

It's a D80 all Z28's were by this time, the front spoiler was in the trunk when the guy bought it. It was hit in the pass quarter early in it's life and had a new one, hence the partial repaint, most of the decklid is original paint sans the bklue tio the right of the stripe- painted to stripe edge.  There is a 17 on the pass fender and a D on the drivers.  Hood is 18 on the tab.

The firewall is White overspray it is not exposed gray primer.

Thank you for the information.
That is interesting on the trim tag, I figured by the time D80 became mandatory it was on all the tags?
Any interior pics?
How many miles?

It's a std blk interior... one of the seams was split on the drivers seat and it was already out and at the upolstery shop to have the seam resewn.

The coil bracket should not have the notch.
Steve, do you know for which GM model(s) the notched brackets are assembly-line correct? Or are the notched versions service replacements?

Dont know the application for the notch bracket. Just know I have not seen the notch on original unrestored cars.

Absolutely incorrect!   It's inside out and upside down.. :)    Of course, I can't tell you that is the original put on incorrectly by a factory worker, OR if it was a '70's replacement installed incorrectly by the owner at the time.
