Hi just thought it was interesting that a dealer is selling a genuine 69 z28 daytona yellow with yellow hounds tooth trim
vin 124379N635021 and trim tag 714 76 built 04C, Am I wrong to assume colour combo was not available until later on in
the year. As I am not sure how to down load the add it is on the hemmings site, Interested on feed back
thank you

Search the VIN on this site. Discussed briefly back in March of this year.

Dealers were notified of the availability of yellow and orange interiors early in '69. The Camaro order form was revised Dec '68 to include orange and yellow; a insert with a photo was included in the February '69 Communications kit and the showroom brochure also revised. While usually mentioned together, it appears orange was not really available initially. The first yellow interior cars were built Feb 18 at Norwood; the earliest known coupe with orange houndstooth is mid-April.
Z11s notwithstanding, neither interior sold well. Winvoices states about 600 coupes with yellow, about 500 with orange. I had two orange/orange Z/28s, one with JL8.

Thank you William,
that clears up my query so being an early built car as you stated would the tag also have to have the letter B after 76 colour code
for Black vinyl roof, or is it like the D80 option and included on later built car trim tags
-
sorry disregard my last message as an oversight on my behalf,
upon expanding the photo I noticed the B more to the right.
-
If it was equipped with a factory vinyl, there would've been a letter following the color code. B is black. Mine is 76E 714. Vinyl tops were an option....Joe

Awesome Joe. Looking good

That is very sharp looking!

If Winvoices estimates around 600 coupes with the yellow/yellow combination then
there would be around 50 Z28's with this color combo as the z28 production was around 8.35% of total car production for the 1969 production run.
Is this correct?
-
Probably not. Statistical interpolations quickly run off the rails.
Certain colors were more popular on performance cars. In this area, I recall 5-6 76 714 Z/28s. The db has just over 1,600 Z/28s; 20 with 714 interior.
-
Small sample size but your numbers would result in about 290 76/714 cars.
Thanks
-
Well there's that statistical interpolation thing.
Yellow was not available to order until January; first cars built late February.
