Originality / Re: DF rally wheels
« on: November 01, 2007, 12:37:23 AM »
Those are 68 DF ralleys. The date code is on the inside of the rim and is possibly B for February of 68. They have the large DF that is upside down or facing towards center. Those are the desirable DF rims vs the common service replacement 69 DF's that are manth and day coded by the valve stem hole.

45 is the week, A is a plnat or line code, 68 is the calendar year.

The boxes helped that sale. There may be some slight molding variances from the old stock to the new stock ones.
I dont know if there are or arent, but not $230 worth to me.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Cowl Tag Authenticity?

That tag is fine. Not sure about the stampings on the trans, too hard to see. The Block stamping is questionable IMO. Would like to see the pad without paint. The VIN stamping is questionable IMO.

I would leave it. I would rather have the old original one than a repop one.

Originality / Re: Correct water pump 692 or 170?
« on: October 17, 2007, 12:58:48 AM »
692. The 170 pump was more likely to be on a Tonawanda engine. thats what the T stands for after the casting number on a 170 pump.

Flint supplied the 302's in 69. However, I think there are a few examples of Tonawanda made 302's, although I have never seen a documented one with a 170 pump on it.

I used Pilkington and my car with zero problems and had the date codes etched using my original glass etchings as a template.
