Mild Modifications / 69 Z-28 Tire Size
« on: May 15, 2012, 09:53:09 PM »
Just wanted to confirm what I think to be the case before tire purchase.  Looking to get some new tires for 69 Z with stock wheels, suspension etc.  Would be Radial TA's.  Question is size.  I want to come fairly close to the original tires which I think were E or G 70-15.  A little bigger would be OK but I  would  like a look close  to stock appearance and not have any rubbing problems.  I found a post from JohnZ from 11/2009 and he recommended 215/65-15 TA's.  Would that seem to fit what I am looking for?  Thanks

Mild Modifications / Re: 14x7 to 15x7 Rally Wheel Swap...
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:19:33 PM »
Hope this is not off topic but I had done some research a while back on wheels.  I think I found that 15x7 YH wheels were identical to FW wheels.  I thought they even had the same GM part number 3997899-D.  Does anyone know if this is correct?  Thanks

Originality / Re: 69 302 Starter Motor Brace Bolts
« on: January 28, 2012, 12:08:36 AM »
Thanks for all the replies.  I did find the 5006 kit of parts for the starter at AMK.  I already had the starter bolts, just needed the bolt and nut for the brace.  AMK has a minimum order of $30 so maybe I can find something temporary, hardware store etc., till I need other things from them.  None of the other usual parts houses seem to carry this item.

Can anyone tell what size and finish the bolts are for the starter motor brace on a 69 302?  Also, where I could get them.
Thanks

Mild Modifications / Re: 69 Oil Pressure Gauge
« on: August 22, 2011, 03:43:25 PM »
Thanks all for the responces.  The lines I have been using came from Ricks and are black in color so I am assuming from the above they were the nylon material.  In any case I have still had a couple of them break.  They were probably hit or nicked while doing some other work in the area.  They both broke in the engine compartment near the fitting they come out of.  Obviously I will use great care now doing anything in that area of the engine but would like to come up with something a little stronger.  Any ideas?

Mild Modifications / 69 Oil Pressure Gauge
« on: August 19, 2011, 08:16:11 PM »
Looking for input on 69 console oil pressure gauge issue.  I am using the correct plastic line from engine to gauge.  I have had the line break twice now, what a mess!  Probably cracked while doing  some other work on the engine.  Does anyone offer a metal replacement line or maybe an electric sending unit?  I suppose an electric sending unit would then need a new gauge, which I would like to match the current gauge.  Anyway, suggestions to prevent another oil bath would be appreciated.

Maintenance / 69 Console
« on: July 28, 2011, 04:03:15 PM »
Can anyone tell me how to replace the spring for the main door on a 69 center console?  Also, how to replace the rivets, nuts, and springs holding the ash tray door on same.  Not much room to work here.  Hopefully you don't have to take the whole thing apart!  Thanks for any help.

Restoration / 1969 DZ carb/cowl induction set up
« on: June 07, 2011, 05:39:10 PM »
I am replacing an aftermarket Holley carb with a correct DZ carb on a 69-Z.  Could someone please post some pictures showing the linkage, choke, and other hook ups.  Also, it had cowl induction so that is being redone as well.  So any pictures of the cowl induction throttle arm, wiring, and other CI bits and pieces would help.  Thanks

Not sure what wiper motor.  I am in Illinois and the car is currently in Florida and won't come up here until our fine winter weather is over in a few months.  Maybe I can get a friend who is near the car to check the wiper motor or back up lights.

It is an X-33 code.  It also has the RS hidden lights, black grille, trim, back up lights, RS taillights. rear louvers.

Thanks for the info.  If I replace the Camaro badges with rally-sport I assume some body work might be needed with different hole locations etc.

My 1969 Z-28 RS has Camaro badges on the rear area of the front fenders.  I notice that some other Z RS's have rally sport badges in this area.  Were both types used?  Are mine correct?  Thanks
