Decoding/Numbers / Re: Windshield date code - LX or IX?
« on: May 14, 2016, 08:01:20 AM »
My car has an LV dated drivers door window, and the 'L' is identical to the one shown above. The etched letter style has the same gap between the horizontal and vertical lines. I'll grab a picture in the morning (dark now) if that would help?

Looks like LX to me. I wonder if the plants may have used the retooling period for the incoming new model year to pull any parts still remaining in inventory to the front? If so, could possibly explain a March windshield in a September car, maybe even the Firebird parts too......

I cannot say with certainty that it is original to my car, but the shifter that came with it (along with many other original dated parts that were taken off soon after purchase by the original owner) is stamped 29D21C. Will upload a picture shortly once I figure this iPhone out....

Originality / Re: 69 Bumper Jack
« on: April 26, 2016, 11:25:56 AM »
It was assembled at Norwood.
Thanks. LOS cars may have used a different design, whereas all NOR cars seem to have the trapezoidal mast style with the date code stamped on the mechanism rivet.

Is that a faint '1' before the 9D53D?

Terry was your car assembled at NOR or LOS/VN?

Originality / 1969 Subframes - Backdrive Linkage Holes
« on: April 17, 2016, 06:48:02 AM »
Were all subframes for the '69 model year pre-drilled for the backdrive linkage pivot assembly, or were they drilled to suit application on the assembly line (i.e. 2 or 3 holes, depending on the specific pivot style)?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Voltage Regulator Date vs Car Build Date
« on: April 09, 2016, 11:28:39 PM »
Just saw this thread got resurrected. Hans, that's great to know your reg is March because your car is so close to mine in build date, and from LOS too. I ended up going with the 9C VR but because it needed a rebuild, I got a Wells solid state unit and plan to rebuild the 9C with the internals of the Wells. Have seen this done before and it allows the base (with numbers and date code) and cover to be retained. So it looks OE  and there's no adjustment required!

Chick I do agree that the fresh white would stand out and highlight the part as new, especially on a survivor. I've received a few suggestions from a restoration buddy (one of which was to make up a thick paste of instant coffee granules and apply that to the visible parts of the plastic valve for a while) so have some experiments to conduct over our winter, which is just around the corner. I'd rather leave it obviously new and white than ruin the part, but thought I'd try a few of the suggestions out on scrap plastic test pieces.

Good pictures to compare them Bentley. The only other difference I can make out is the lack of the 3 dots on the face of the repro check valve. They still look a lot better to me than the valves most of the usual vendors carry, and the ones commonly fitted when getting a booster restored.
Mike, I think you're correct and these might even be identical to those sold by Long Island Corvette Supply. If so, those are more than double the cost of these ($19 versus $8).
