These are off of a 350 SB. I am assuming they would be the same for a Z.  The only stamp I could find was on the right side tower...the one marked with the arrow. I'm pretty sure these are original.

...Left side tower...

John posted pics of the towers in his very original '69 Z in Reply #5 (link below). His are a lot like mine in that the left side is curved. Problem is... I'm not sure if these are Z28 specific. If you look further down in that same link, there is some discussion about the L48 and mention is made about the same side being straight.

If you look at the pics below, the first one is courtesy of Steve Shauger and his bone stock L48 which clearly shows his left tower is curved. The other pic is mine after the towers were painted and installed. Question...can someone tell me when the transition (if there was one during the '69 model yr) was made from straight to curved tower? Or, which one goes with what...Some clarification please.

My apologies because I think we've crossed this bridge before.  :)

I posted these wire stands a while back, before I restored them (http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=7088.msg46449#msg46449).  They are 1969 L48 stands.  The left stand has only one bend and is shorter than the Z-28 stand which has 2 bends. I believe the right stand is the same as the Z-28.

Here's the right side.

Looks to me like John's Z has an extra bend out on the top where the L48 goes straight up from the hole for the brake booster - seems to be identical otherwise.   Interesting there would be a brake booster hose hole on a Z if it' was going to be bent differently when the hole wasn't used anyway?  HBC shows only one PS for all small blocks but they have one listed for a Z only for the DS.

Marty - I said the left towers for a Z-28 and L-48 are different and the right side are the same.  It appears that you have a left Z-28 stand pictured in your posts (two bends).
Steve - I guess it isn't called a brake booster hose hole on a Z-28 stand since they use a separate support  :)

Gotcha...but here's where I'm confused. Take a look at Steve's - aka paceme's, L48 above (Reply #3). His left tower is identical to mine (w/2 bends) and his car is a "survivor". Just trying to find out which one is correct. Or, are they both correct and a design change occurred sometime during the '69 production year?

Marty, when you go back and edit your posts it makes it very hard to answer you and have the answers look like they make any sense ................ or maybe it's just me?  :)

I don't know for sure, but almost all the L-48's I have seen have the one bend stands. I thought maybe the ones with Z-28 stands had been replaced at some point. Or maybe that some Z-28 stands got used on L-48's during engine assembly. However, that would only apply to Flint built L-48s.

Yep, just a hole I guess!  :D

Interestingly HBC has the straight one showing as for a Z and the one with the double bend listed for all the other SBCs in 69.

It would be interesting to know if the Steve S. survivor car has a Flint or Tonawanda engine.
