Title: Body Tag
Post by: Fastazz on September 22, 2020, 03:37:34 AM
Hello everyone, I’m new here so please forgive me if I’m posting this in the wrong section. Can someone please tell me what the X302 in the body tag means? Thanks in advance.

That is a 69 Camaro built at the Van Nuys plant near Los Angeles (hence the LOS in the body tag). LOS didn't use the X codes like Norwood did on their cars. It is my understanding that the "X" in your case would be the day of the month, and the 302 would have been the 302nd car down the line that day.

So the fisher body company for LOS put a scheduling date which only consist of whatever day in the month that X falls on along with a unit number and they also included a build date if I’m reading this correctly. So the build date would be the second week of September and it was scheduled to be built around the 24th day in the month as unit number 302?

If that’s correct how does one go about finding out about there car without the LOS assembly plant paperwork?

That is CORRECT and like ALL 68 and early 69 Norwood...
There is no information to be had other than running the VIN through NCRS and finding the original selling dealer then HOPE they are around and retained paperwork.

FWIW in no way shape or form does the X302 represent a Z28... not saying the car is not a Z28 only that the Trim Tag gives ZERO indication as to how the car was optioned.

HERE IS an 09B 1969 LOS Z28 TT and firewall - one owner car original paint.

What irony if the car was actually a Z/28.

Yes, William there is THAT! LOL
I guess I should have qualified my statement above with the following This LOS TT gives zero indication of how the car was optioned beyond interior and exterior colors.
