Restoration / Trim tag from Van Nuys
« on: December 02, 2015, 03:37:49 AM »
I have a 69 Z/28 built at the Van Nuys plant in March 1969.  Since that plant do not use "X" codes to identify the Z/28's did they use the D80 code on the trim tag to identify rear spoiler cars?

« on: December 02, 2015, 03:32:14 AM »
I have a 69 302 with repop aluminum valve covers that are too shiny.  What it the best process to get these to the dull finish look of the original aluminum valve covers?

Originality / Re: sway bar hardware plating
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:02:39 PM »
Since the rubber sleeves for extra sway bar brackets appear not to be being reproduced or sold by any vendor can some post a photo of the rubber component alone with the measurements (width/thickness) for a 11/16' sway bar used on the 69 Z/28.

"any ideas on where to buy the rubber insulators that go into the metal clamp?  or a decent substitution?"

Any updates on a source for the rubber components?

Just wondering if anyone has found a vendor that is selling the rubber bushings for the inner sway bar brackets?

Eldon - thanks for the photo.  I have that strap install, it's the strap installed on the other side of the frame rail connecting to the inner fender ahead on the front wheel I was inquiring about

Thanks 69Z28-RS, I now can visualize where the strap should be installed.  Unfortunately I do not have any bolt holes in the inner fender (could be a re-pop) nor the frame.  My Z is a 02D LA build so maybe like other members have stated this fourth strap was not installed there.  Thanks again for getting me looking in the correct location.

Sorry to belabor this issue but I just can not determine where the frame to inner fender ground strap is to be located.  I have viewed the photos provided but still can not determine to on location on my 1969 Z/28.  Can someone provide some more photos for this strap location and maybe some measurements/distances from other body parts?  Thanks - John

Restoration / Re: 67 heater core and box
« on: February 17, 2011, 02:13:01 AM »
I need to replace the heater core in my 67 non-AC vehicle.  Was wondering how many mounting studs are attached to the interior heater box that has to be removed?  I can get at 5 nuts in the engine side on the firewall, is that all I need to remove?  or do I have to remove the fender to get at and remove more than the five I can see?

Restoration / 1967 Camaro windshield washer bottle location?
« on: February 22, 2010, 12:11:32 AM »
Does anyone have a picture of the original location of the windshield washer bottle brace/holder?
I have reviewed the AIM documentation but I can not see the three bolt hole pattern in the radiator brace and mine has the voltage regulator and horn relay mounted where the AIM has the location of the washer bottle holder.

A Picture will assist a lot ....

Thanks

Mild Modifications / RS Conversion Kit Installation
« on: February 05, 2010, 11:35:55 PM »
I have a 67 Standard  Coupe that I would like to install a RS conversion kit to convert highlights, grill, valiances, parking lights, etc.
I looking for feedback from those who have performed the conversion to determine:
   1. which kit manufacture is best
   2. is the instruction manual complete and easy to follow
   3. did you purchase new valiances or cut holes in the existing ones for the parking/turn lights
   4. is there a website with detail installation process instructions available
   5. how difficult is the electrial portion of the install

or forget it and find someone who has completed the conversion before.

Thanks for your feedback

Maintenance / Installing a power brake booster
« on: January 30, 2010, 12:12:48 AM »
I have a 67 Camaro with manual brakes and was wondering if there is any benefit to installing a power brake booster only to improve braking performance? or wait until I can do it right and install power disc front brakes?

Also, is installing power front disc brakes something a layman could do in their garage without buying a load of special tools?  any websites detailing the process?

Thanks
