Maintenance / Re: CV-746 PCV valve replacement

Fram  FV178 is listed as the right one on their website. It's the only one I could find when I was searching and is the one I use. It's stamped 2057.

General Discussion / Re: Points vs. Electronic Ignition

I use the Pertronix 1181LS Ingnitor along with their flame thrower coil. It has has a Hall effect sensor that senses the lobes on the shaft rather than a plastic ring with magnets. My tach works fine. It works great for me.

Jim, my car doesn't have the the reverse lockout system. I think I wouldn't have been able to use it if I had it. For the return spring, I reversed their order by attaching the spring to the clutch fork and the rod to the engine mount. I made a new rod out of straight wire. I have some pictures but they're too large to attach. I will email them to you if you send your email address.

I installed the Dougs D308's in my 69 Z28 and they cleared the power steering box with ease. I left them in their plastic bags when positioning them in place to help prevent any scratches.

I use the 10-3/8” version and like the feel very much, it engages very smoothly.

Maintenance / Re: Alternate Valve Lash Adjustment Procedure
« on: August 25, 2020, 01:49:07 AM »
I use that procedure on my 1969 Z/28, except my rocker arms are actually 1.5:1 (Howards Cams Long Slot Rockers) so I use a lash of .032".  At .026" I was getting about 7" of vacuum and 150-155 compression in all cylinders. I chased my tail with getting it to run right until I found my rockers were 1.5:1 and I adjusted lash to .032". I now get 9" of vacuum at idle and compression of 180-185 in all cylinders, it idles much better and noticeably more power than when I adjusted them to .026". Just my experience.

Maintenance / Re: Spark plugs and wires
« on: January 31, 2020, 05:18:41 PM »
I use current production AC R43 spark plugs and spark plug wires from HBC that are date coded for my car. The R43 plugs haven't fouled on me, and the wires look great as they're all the proper length.

This block is listed on ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-DZ302-STD-Bore-engine-block-w-1178-Crank-GM-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-302-69/202762262398?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I messaged him for the VIN stamp by the oil filter and he sent the attached picture. He also said that he would sell it separately without the 1178 crank or the connecting rods.

I’m running the Coker Firestone Wide Ovals in FR70-15 on my Z/28. I think they look great and ride fantastic.

Two more pictures

Hi, can you read what the VIN number is on on the 0303DZ block? I have a LOS Z/28 with a 3/17 build date.
