Another note I forgot to mention........it makes more sense for a single groove pulley on the alternator as the upper radiator hose is very close to the pulley on mine as well.            Heiferduster

Thanks Mike for the pictures!!   It's always nice to see other BB's with auto transmission as there are not that many out there.  I like to see the way your smog pump is mounted as mine is not there anymore after many years being gone.  Who knows what ever happened to it as many were discarded.
I am more confused ??? to why you have what looks like a 3 groove pulley on your water pump?  Maybe I can't see it right in the pics?  Was that added later?  I don't have it.  If I can get pictures to upload here I will post some pictures of mine.  My 67 does have the 3 groove cast iron pulley for the crank.  The first pulley groove (inner from the engine out) goes from the crankshaft to the water pump, then the alternator.  The second groove should go from the crank to the water pump up to the air pump.  (Someone routed this on mine to the alternator via a 2 groove pulley on the alternator.)  The third pulley groove goes directly from the crank to the power steering pump.
Does yours have power steering?  According to the A.I.M. page 86, upper right hand corner of the page, it shows the routing.  It doesn't show anywhere a 2 groove pulley for the alternator on any pages.  Someone must have put a 2 groove alternator pulley on mine to make it look better like a smog pump was never installed.  I wish I had an original smog pump for mine with the tubing/lines for originality.  Maybe you would sell me yours?  ;) ;)  I would be more interested in that carb you have! ;) ;)  LOL!

My 67 alternator also has a dual pulley on it but I thought it might be installed to "use" the empty pulley spaces on the crank and water pump, for looks :) (mine is a California emissions too) so you are saying that the dual pulley was used along with the alternator and air pump together??  I thought it may have had the single pulley alone and the air pump just went around the crank pulley and the water pump.  I really need to look at the AIM again.  its been a while and its cold here in Mn.

Do you have the 7037210 quadrajet?  I'm still looking for one.  I found a 7027210.

Now THAT'S what this forum is all about.  THANK YOU MIKE for pointing that out!  That does make sense to me.   I suppose also that when sitting in traffic or at a stop sign your foot is always on the brake more with the automatic than the manual transmission and using brake lights/amp draw as well as other functions, heater, ignition coil lights, etc.  .   You have changed my mind.  Now I will look for the 42 amp either a 7C or 7B.    I'm sort of glad I didn't go with the 1100693 now.  Thanks again!

Thanks.   Maybe others can shed more input??  If this is a LOS 396 RS/SS, with auto transmission, and the only other options taking power is the AM FM radio, console gauges etc, would there be a 37 amp in there or the larger 42 amp?  Someone put in a 55 amp 100803 in there now.  Don't know where that came from but that's what they did years back.  Would courtesy lights in this package require an upgraded alternator?  I'm sure that a 37 amp would be plenty for what is there but I just want to get the right one that would have been in there originally.

Hey Mike~
There is a BB (396) in there so AC wasn't available in 67, until 68 with the BB.  Other than a AM/FM radio and console, it doesn't have any other options that take power.  Unless, the headlight doors made the difference?

Sounds great.  I think I will look for the 7C. 37 amp.  I think this was assembled March 31, 67.  I don't think there is any reason to believe it was anything other than a 37 amp originally.  I don't have a build sheet or POP.  Would it make a difference if it was a RS/SS?.
Thanks for the input.

Hello again.  I am looking to get the correct alternator, 1100693, 37 amp. alternator for my 67 Camaro but was wondering about how much in advance was the alternator built before the final assembly date?  I have found many answers to this and am thinking it might be just a few weeks before?  How about up to a month before assembly?  My car was built the 3rd week of March, 1967.  With that date, I'm thinking it should read about 7C.  Possibly 7B? or would that be too early?  This is a BB car from LOS, so there is no ac., a 37 amp.
Thanks.

That looks exactly like mine, although on the very left of it in a vertical position it is dated March 14, 1967.  It looks like it was done with an ordinary typewriter of the time.

Decoding/Numbers / Paper tag found under carpet 67 Camaro
« on: February 20, 2014, 01:39:29 AM »
Hello again.  A while ago I found a strip of paper (or what seems to be half of it) under the carpet of my Camaro.  I measures 3 inches wide and has the date of March 14, 1967 on the end of it.  My car was built the last week of March.  I tried to post a pic here but cannot get it under the size JPG file to post here for some reason.  Not computer literate yet.  Anyways it says :

1967 F- Body Rear Ca???
2 D B/S
4 Slits
1070-T Black trentxxx??
7657058
Allen Industries xxxxx?
175 E. Millerville? Street
Compton, California

Would this be the date that the interior was made then sent to the factory for installation later?
It has the black deluxe interior if that means something.  Pics of the car can be seen in the "originality" forum under the heading "needing correct bumble bee stripe"  if interested.  Any ideas what this is?
Thanks

Thanks for the compliment.   Here is the trim plate.
It does say N2.  Along with the rest.  I do have the specifics on what the tag all means.  So far, all is good.  I am still looking for the correct carburetor (Quadrajet 7037210). I have found the non California carb 7027210, late A.I.R.  Probably the same carb, different jetting.  And looking for the correct alternator 1100693, March of 67.   Someday I MAY get happy and find the missing A.I.R. pump with brackets/etc. and make it like it used to be, but then I didn't really plan on showing it anyways.

What did you mean when you said it had a few add ons?  Was wondering if something was not right. I know other than the 70's or 80's mud flaps, and steering wheel wrap, I think someone also put on a passenger side mirror that I don't think was original.  (I replaced the worn out and damaged mirrors with new ones from Classic Industries.    This has been in my wife's family for many years, with a lot of documents what was done to the car over the years.    Thanks for any info!

Here are some pics!  These were taken last year.  I have since added new 14" BF Goodrich tires (of course) for the raised white lettering look.
