Hi
Is there an easy way to determine if the interior on my ‘69 is original?

I had a very small rip on the seat seam and took it to an upholstery shop. The guy said, “do you realize these are the original seat covers”? Hence my question.
-
On the backside of original seat covers is an ink stamped mfg and date...
-
That must be what they saw when they fixed it. Car was purchased from original owner so I’m guessing the seats and door panels might be original. Hard to a believe a white 53 year old interior is original.
I was hoping someone could tell by looking at the pictures.

Standard door panels have vinyl on the top and leatherette paper on the bottoms. There is a break at the trim at the top of the panel.
original raised areas are built up of blocks of cardboard.
-
At a recent cars and coffee, someone mentioned that my driver door panel looked original primarily because it had the molding and hole for the remote mirror. He said he wanted to add one when he rebuilt his ‘69 but couldn’t find a repro door panel that had it.
Any truth to that?

A remote mirror is a fairly rare option [7,771] so no surprise they didn't want to tool up for it.
-
Original interiors from the '50's and 60's generally ONLY lasted if the cars were built with all tinted glass or were garaged, or both...
-
Sure makes sense. This car has factory tinted glass (A0) and was certainly garaged.

I don't think the door panels are original. Look like PUI gold version.
-
Agree. I think those panels are "too white" to be original.
-
Thanks everyone for your input. Sincerely appreciate it!

The seats are fairly easy (obvious). Just turn them upside down or remove the rear cover on the buckets.
I'm trying to post a photo but not sure it's gonna work...
-
The door panels do not have the 2 piece construction with vinyl on the top... on original std door panels there is an open seam which goes through the center of the trim where the remote mirror control is located

Thank you so much. That’s exactly what I was looking for. My ‘68 looks like that!!

That’s how my seats look. Thank you.

Thanks again! I now know how to tell the difference! I knew my 68 panels were original. Here’s ash gold.

Thats a great combo - white top and int is subtle with the bnut yellow.
I found a 26k mile white on white RS SS conv a few years ago, I like the butternut white combo better.

Thanks. It’s the reason I bought the car. It’s probably one of the “prettiest” Camaro’s I’ve ever seen. What’s funny is, when I take it to cars and coffee, there’s more women that comment on it then men. It was originally purchased by a women and I was lucky enough to purchase it. Here’s the window sticker.
