Title: Working on a Deluxe interior
Post by: Emo1956 on January 19, 2019, 04:53:26 PM
Hi everyone, Has anyone worked on installing a new deluxe interior ? My problem is installing the moldings on the door panels. You have put holes in order to install the moldings. You know if you go near them with a drill bit it will catch the carpet and you'll have a mess on your hands. I was thinking about heating up a awl and pushing it threw. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated. Thank you Emo

Soldering iron? Might still be a smoky mess depending on how you go about it.

That's a great thought ! That way I don't have to keep heating up the awl. The thing is they give you no holes at all so 1 mistake and OH NO . There will be some swearing for sure lol Thank you

I have resorted to using a 2 x 4 &  a gasket punch  and a BFH also to make very clean holes in a carpet (Not saying the factory did it this way) just tips & tricks for DIY sake.

I just had a idea I forgot about, I used many years ago. You take a finish nail and stick it in a drill and it makes a nice clean hole ! Yep that is what I am going to do ....
