The R/S rear lower valance is totally different than the standard one, there is a inner panel that the lights sit/mount in. look at the options section on this site, there you will see a picture of the 68 R/S panel.
I'm am not sure how you would mount the back up light housing to a cut out standard panel, others may have a answer.

Cars that came from other states would have to be issued new plates no matter what the year of the car and they would fall in line with whatever is being registered at that time.

Danny,
In those years all plates came through the mail from DMV (Sacramento I beleive) and were issued as cars were registered, some cars were sitting on dealer lots for months. My 68 08E was bought when it arrived at Champion Chevrolet
(Manhattan Beach) it's black plates start with WPN, My 05C was bought and registered within a few days after it arrived at Ted Green Chevrolet (Torrance) it's plates start with XHS.

I believe the 350 was dropped at the introduction of the 396. only the pre BB SS's had the 350, same as the matching gas caps.

The June 1981 CONSUMER GUIDE classic car series CAMARO (volume 310) has a dozen pages of clay mock ups to running prototypes, the XP-836, prototypes with 13" wheels and round tail lights (with a Panther emblems), clay station wagon, the Waikiki and Caribe show cars and many more. this issue also has many 1967 Chevrolet publicity photos.

I have a 68 Camaro NOS Comp + aftermarket shifter (in the original box) tucked away for future use, Is there any info or numbers that would help with this topic? BTW is the mounting the same for a Small and big blocks? The off-set should not come into play as hursts are transmission mounted.

I deceided to keep you company! I would guess that the responses are few becuse there are a few factors to consider, Easy answer is yes. however not all 265.50.15's are the same size, stuffed wheels look awsome stopped but not always good for daily driving. If the springs/bushings are weak/sagging there will be lots of side shift causing rubbing to the inside of the fender wells. a full tank or passangers will lower your car a couple of inches. I have 295 50 15's euro T/A's tucked in my 68 with un-cut wheel mouldings (Multi-leaf springs with Anson ground grabbers,- bolt is in) The rims are 15 x 8 with a 4.5" back space. The only rub I have had was a bad dip on the 405 freeway at high speed. They must have rubbed the tops of the fender wells as there was no markings on the tires. Hope this helps.

P0428, I know is Muncie, built on April 28 ( of 1966) But 6Z125483 got me. I don't know the VIN MFG or the "Z" plant.

That car's VIN is two after mine. for the line process guys, my SCH # is J543, and the body # is 39094. would that mean that this car was four cars behind mine on the assembly line?
