As a backup plan, I think it's a good idea. Just remember, the fruits of all the labor to restore is useless if you can't enjoy driving and that includes having a backup plan to get back home!

Try installing a temporary heat shield between the header and starter. The close proximity sometimes destroys the internals of both starters and solenoids. Cheap thermal insulation should do the trick.

With the vin stamp on it that should point towards it being a 68 I think. Only 67 Z's and the SS 350's received vin stamps in 1967. Somebody please correct me if that is wrong.......

It seemed to me that there was some question as to when the practice of doing this stopped, so I was just throwing out there that what I consider a late year built 67 to still have this condition on it. Both are Norwood cars. When did they shutdown the plants to switchover to start re-tooling for the 68 line?

I'm sorry Bryon, I thought everyone knew that "Original"only pertained to 67's. Everything after that is a copy!!   Lol. Just kidding, don't want to offend anyone(even though it's true)

I'm gonna throw a little more fuel on this fire. I also have an original 06E build from Norwood with the white paint also.

What is the significance of a white trim tag? I've seen this mentioned a couple of times but no real info as to what it means. I have a 67 SS 350 4P car 04 Dec build from Norwood that I'm tracking info on. :-\

I'll try to do some more research looking for crank casting and piston stamps this weekend. If i remeber right back when the pan was off, it's a 2690 crank.

This is a really confusing issue. I have a 2657 casting with a CE stamped pad. The # is  CE823512   Nothing else stamped on the pad. I bought it to put in my 1967 4P car. It has the forged crank and popup pistons, but I haven't really done anything with it yet. Any thoughts on what it might be.
