Boys,
I found this on a recent home listing, and was quite intrigued. Ok, lets 'show off' yours!
-
is that a 3 car garage?
-
is that a 3 car garage?
I believe so. Also, it has what appears to be an office/man cave in the back.
-
Ah crud, now I need to clean up and fluff the old girl for glamour shots.
her measurements; 24 x 54 x 9
-
My new shop... 30x50 - all metal steel construction - 5" of 4000 PSI concrete monolithic pour with 1" of EPS Foam with 6 mil poly under everything.
200 AMP service -
Etched and epoxied the floors
Installed the 3/4" AIR PIPING SYSTEM a 7HP IR Compressor
AND a SPRAY BOOTH.
-
Some inside shots...
-
Very cool James. How come it is still empty in the pics?
-
Those are from a couple of months ago... top secret work going on now... lol, not really however the car I have now is going to be a feature in a Super Chevy or Hot Rod or something when it's completed and they want photos of the car during process of paint, so I don' want to spoil anyone's glory. lol
-
I gotcha. Well congrats in advance for that. Can you give us any specifics on what the car is?
-
Adding a detached garage in Az.
-
And a Monsoon came in yesterday and made a mess...
-
Wood in center of the wall is to make sure I have something to attach to whenever I go to mount a TV.
-
11'4" ceiling so I can put a side by side two car lift in the back for more storage.
-
Looks good :)
Joe
-
I agree it does look good. I like the lay out, and it appears way bigger on the inside. how many square feet is that?
-
It's about 1300'. Not meant to be a shop but a climate controlled garage.
-
love the idea. So where is "the shop" where you do the dirty work?
-
Workshop is in Ca.
-
the NO work shop is also in Ca.
-
Garage somewhere around Scottsdale ? I was there earlier this year, sure looks familiar. Surprised at the monsoon - place is awfully dry (but great for sheet metal !). Nice layout - I'd be proud of it.
Regards,
Steve
-
Charley... :)
You're making all of us VERY envious... :)
Gary
-
Gary if you ever get to housing your collection in a finished building I think you could give him a run for his money... ;D
-
A "Hacienda for Hot Rods!" Love it. ;D
-
A "Hacienda for Hot Rods!" Love it. ;D
I liked it too! :)
-
This a close friend of mine. I do restorations, hand lettering and pinstriping for him. It's only part of his collection. That is a real 10/10 69 Z that belonged to our friend Jim who passed away. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/guys-garage-chuck-fisher-new-haven-ct/

very cool. All different makes and models, and a TON of toys. The dragsters are cool, hard to run across those.
-
Very Nice Display!

Beautiful garage sir... I like your MOBILE and CONOCO signs, don't see those in the south too often.
-
Yes, they were the common fuels in New Mexico, and I found the Conoco sign in a small town where the original gas station and pole that held the sign is there! Probably from the 50's I'm always looking for hidden treasures on my road trips.

Got a Malco sign in your collection? That was New Mexico. They had race history....Joe
-
No never heard of it, do you have a picture? You've got me curious!
-
I think it was KS Pitman who used Malco gas in his 1933 Willys...Joe

-
Very cool ! Thanks for the interesting info. I moved from Wisconsin to New Mexico in '90 , and of course now I'm going to have to try and find that brand of sign for my collection.
-
Boys,
Thanks for sharing your fantastic garages, aka 'toy rooms'! Im impressed and envious.
-
Nice thread. Might as well add mine here. :)
-
When you say "add", you are going to show us the inside right?
-
Drywall done and stucco going on.
-
Looks great from the outside! Keep us posted.
-
Got my interior painted Saturday.
-
Very nice Charley! How many vehicles will you be 'showing' in it... :)
-
is that a 65 rivera in the background?
-
Drool,,,,,, nice blank canvas to work with!
-
Yes that is my hot rod 65 Riviera. Garage is designed to hold 5 cars on the floor easily but I could probably squeeze 8 in with GoJacks. Also wired for car lifts and 11'4" ceiling. Plan was to put a side by side two car lift in the back.

WOW! Very nice. Looks like a dealers showroom.
-
floor polished, doors up.
-
Looks great Charley!~ getting close to 'populating it'.. :)
? What exactly do you mean by 'floors polished'?? Is it coated/sealed with a clear sealer and then polished? how?
-
I will piggy back onto Gary's comment, looks great. I assume concrete running up to the doors, What else still needs to be done?
-
Um, Liftmaster's make for a clean install!
Sweet
Jim

? What exactly do you mean by 'floors polished'?? Is it coated/sealed with a clear sealer and then polished? how?
Our polishing process consists of seven basic steps of mechanical grinding and polishing. Depending on the current condition of the floor, the process may require more steps, or even less. The first three steps prepare the floor by flattening and leveling it using metal bond diamond grindings. These steps are crucial to ensure proper finishing and safety standards. The last four steps use resin bond diamonds for polishings. These steps seal the floor and polish it to a matte, satin or glossy finish. Yezco’s VOC compliant polishing method brings out the natural strength and beauty of the concrete—without harming the environment.
-
Thanks Charley! It's so shiny it appears to have a coating of some sort... :)
-
I think it is just really really polished. I have never had a coating hold up.
-
A lot of people report they haven't had finishes hold up (generally talking about epoxy paints), but my experience is the opposite. I've finished around 5000 sf of garage space (4 different garage spaces) with two different kinds of epoxy (most recently the Rustoleum Professional Epoxy) over the last 17-18 years and the only spot I've had that suffered damage was from acid that leaked from a battery in a corvette I'd purchased. I think the variability factor in my experience versus that of others is the *preparation* and following directions. One cannot just 'apply' the epoxy and expect it to work. In my situations, I've let new concrete 'cure' for a few months, followed by thorough cleaning, followed by acid etching, followed by more thorough cleaning, and then *sufficient drying* before the application of the epoxy. After application, one needs to wait for the epoxy to cure before driving on it. I love the epoxy because it cleans up so easily after any spill and is also easy to keep clean.
I like the looks of your 'polished' floor but I'm curious if the 'polished surface' also resists liquids (oils, etc) from soaking into it?? And is it 'slippery' when wet? I've learned thru experience to put a little 'sand' in the epoxy paint to overcome the slippery when wet problem.
-
My shop at home has a 3 part epoxy system on it that was guaranteed against all chemicals except maybe brake fluid left on it for a extended period of time. This was the second coating the company had done. First one was a Urethane coating that the parent chemical company screwed up the mixture and it failed instantly. They paid the contractor to buy a diamond grinder to grind the entire floor and then do the 3 part epoxy. Been about 10 years now and stuff like trans fluid, gasoline etc now stains it. Hot tires also lift it. Company is no longer in business.
-
I used the Rustolium stuff and like Gary said I cleaned and tried out my new gas furnace drying and heating it for a couple days. I almost passed out putting it down the garage was so hot. Left the heat on it for a couple more days to cure. Trans fluid and oil or hot tires have not been a problem. It is a pain to clean since I used the color flakes. It was new concrete by the way.
-
More info from the site that finished the floor.
Dense, polished surface helps protect against absorption of oil and other contaminants• Resists tire marks from fork trucks and other traffic• Harder and stronger than other floor finishes
• 40% more abrasion resistant than unfinished concrete • 20% increase in impact resistance than unfinished concrete• 30% increase in ambient light reflection from unfinished concrete• Flatter, more level surface
• OSHA recommends that you achieve a static coefficient of friction (SCOF) of 0.5 for
polished surfaces - HTC Superfloor™ SCOF wet: .50 and dry: .58
• Easily add color to existing concrete during the HTC Superfloor™ process

The other cool trick is to blend in some colored glass in the top layer of concrete. Then grind and polish. Not sure I'd do it for a garage, but great for an entryway. Looks really notable and different.
-
Progress. Stucco primed, pavers done, cars test fit...
-
Test fit? :) Was there any doubt they'd 'fit'?? Appears you have room for several more in there... :)
-
Painted, landscaped, ac works, garage doors work. Just need to touch up paint inside and and put the final UV coating on the foam roof.
-
Looks good Charley. How much acreage do you have up there?
-
I think it is just under 2 acres. Desert with three washes going around my house so plenty of wildlife. My Arlo cameras regularly film Bobcats, deer, Raccoons, Coyote's, Javelina, Scorpions, Snakes and even a Tarantula.
-
Arizona?
-
Very Cool. Have you encountered any of the wildlife ? or do they scatter when you're around?
-
Scottsdale Az. That Bobcat was just sitting there watching a guy plant a Saguaro that I had bought for the front yard. Just looked at me when I took the pic. Most of the creatures come out at night and the Arlo cams get them with night vision.
-
That "CAT" was just happy to find some shade that did not have spines on it,,,,,,
Great Garage w/ creatures inside & Out.
Jim

I named him 'Bob".
-
I named him 'Bob".
What would you name the "Javelina", proof God has a sense of humor? Never seen one of these creatures? Maybe a local sort of thing (ours would have webbed feet), they look fine to pet until they get angry, probably taste good properly prepared.
-

Javelina are very dangerous & they stink. We had 12 of them sleeping in the shade on our back porch last summer. They had young ones with them. I had to educate my grandson on them because he loves animals. He had to stay in the house for the entire day as they moved to the other side on the house after noon...Joe

How about AMC or AMX?!! lol
-
I've never heard that name before. I know them as peccaries.
-
Same animal. In south/central america they are called peccaries but in the sw US (Arizona) they are called Javelinas.
-
Final polish on floor. Just bare concrete.
-
It looks like you "JUST" ran a Zamboni over it! (LoL)
SWEET
Jim
-
Guy showed up this morning and 5 hours later he had my lift installed.
-
What kind of lift is that?

thank you

Spent a day assembling cabinets. Still need to hang the tv.
-
.....
-
Very nice, it's like Christmas every month of the year at your place Charley.
-
WOW! Every guys dream garage/man cave. Job well done!
-
That is quite the showroom! are you really going to get any work done in there? or just bench racing? I guess your buddies will have to put on booties to before they enter? Nice job!
-
Really didn't want it as a shop to do any serious work other than maintenance. Wanted it mostly for parking but then needed some kind of cabinets, then might as well put a tv in etc etc.
-
Looks like you might want to move you drip pan under the white car Charley. Beautiful shop.
-
I think you are seeing reflections thru the windows.
-
Probably so Charley, You garage floor is really nice. I am sure it will be easier to keep up than my epoxy floor.
-
Got the tv hung....Nailed it.......

Ha, I even see a red level on the work bench
DOH!
-
LOL....Thought it was so funny I had to take the pic. It is actually on a swinging out bracket with all kinds of adjustment but was late getting to the airport so it is still sitting just like that.
-
Figured you were toying with us.
Keep posting as you hang Kool stuff on those blank walls (Canvas),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,drool,,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
I actually like the blank walls.
-
Could paint you a CRG sign and hang it up. Would look pretty kuuuuull. Look pretty nice next to those red/black/charcoal cabinets.
