Title: Quarter panel vent screws?
Post by: Tinkerr on July 19, 2019, 08:22:37 PM
I have AMK interior kit and it came with 2 screws for the Qrt. vents. They are chrome with sealer on them. The repo vents from D&R came with 2 black phosphate screws with a broad head resembling a washer. Which screw is correct? Thanks Paul

I think I'm going with the chrome. Jon that screw in the last pic. looks like they used whatever they had handy. The vent surface is flat, one would think the screw surface should be flat also. There's no accounting for what happened on the assembly line. Thanks Paul

Pics I posted #30 on “details of a 68 RS Z28” show a zinc screw. Late built NOR car.

Using the AMK book; Tapping screws, Round, Round washer. 8-18 x 1/2" with 0.28"OD
AMK only offers in phosphate, mine are zinc, with chisel point rather than the std. tapered tapping thread.

Mine are just like Johns upper photo
